The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting has issued a warning to Online Curated Content Publishers (OTT platforms) and their self-regulatory bodies.
What is Over-the-Top (OTT)?
Over-the-Top refers to media services that deliver film and television content via internet connections.
Key Aspects of the Advisory:
Compliance with the Code of Ethics: OTT platforms are required to follow the Code of Ethics established under Part III of the Information Technology (Intermediary Liability and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 (IT Rules, 2021).
The Code mandates that OTT platforms must not stream content that is illegal and must implement age-based content classification.
