AIDS | HOW TO PREVENT AIDS / HIV INFECTION?


AIDS

1.         AIDS (Acquired Immune-Deficiency Syndrome) is a disease, which is caused by a virus called Human Immune Deficiency Virus or HIV. The virus is fatal and dangerous because it destroys the immune system in the human body & remains in the body for years together without any visible symptoms. AIDS is the last stage of infection of the virus. In the US and some other countries like Uganda, Zimbabwe etc, AIDS emerged in the 1980s. In India, the first case of HIV infection was detected in 1986 in Madras. According to the estimates by Indian Health Organisation There were lacs of HIV +ve and felt – blown AIDS victims at the end of 1994.

2.         It mainly spreads through a sexual route & blood to blood contact. It may be said that HIV spreads mainly through four sources :

            (a)        Sex with an infected partner – heterosexual as well as homosexual.

            (b)        Transfusion of blood & blood products infected with HIV.

(c)        Infected mother to the unborn child, there being 30-50% chance of delivery.

HOW TO PREVENT AIDS / HIV INFECTION?



3.         Presently, there is no vaccine to prevent or drug to cure HIV infection. The only way is to prevent the disease. Adapting to “safer sex” by using condoms & by avoiding multiple sexual partners, can reduce sexual transmission of the disease. This could be done through TV, radio, newspapers & other man media.

4.         The most important fact is that India has developed its first indigenously developed HIV / AIDS detection kit named HIV-I & II W- Blot. Developed by the department of Biotechnology (DBT), the kit was released in March 2001 for commercial production. According to DBT officials, the kit is unique, since it has been “developed through” the HIV strain prevalent in India.

5.         The rate spread of HIV virus is not uniform in all states. The highest no of AIDS cases are found in Mumbai, which is known as AIDS capital of India.

6.         To prevent the rapid spread, government has taken appropriate step. But for successful implementation of these schemes, awareness among general public is important.

Prevention
(a)       Use of Condoms
(b)       Use sterilized syringe
(c)        Proper checking of blood
(d)       Proper awareness
(e)        Sex Education.
  

AIDS


Aids is the most dangerous disease which the world facing today.  It is sexually transmitted disease.  The most infected countries are South Africa, India, China, Thailand, USA etc.  In every minute 5 young people infected by AIDS.  AIDS is caused by a Virus called HIV3 +.
Main causes
(a)       Unsafe sex with unknown person.
(b)       Blood.
(c)        Pregnant mother to child.
(d)       Use of unsterlised needle.
(e)       Unfair sex.
(f)        Using the Blades in barber shop.

Syndromes
(a)       This virus directly affect the immunity power so our body is affected by the number of disease.
(b)       Lose of weight.
(c)        High fever.
(d)       Expansion of respiratory organ

Prevention
(a)       Use of Condoms
(b)       Use sterilized syringe
(c)        Proper checking of blood
(d)       Proper awareness
(e)        Sex Education.
